Dr Tracey Cawthorn, MD, is a psychiatrist with a board certification in General Adult Psychiatry and a board certification in the Geriatric Psychiatry subspecialty through the ABPN. She completed her medical school, general psychiatry residency, and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) after completion of her intern year of general psychiatry at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. During her career, she has been able to provide treatment for patients in multiple settings, including outpatient clinics, acute inpatient hospital units, post-acute care facilities, acute crisis stabilization units, skilled nursing facilities, teaching facilities, and specialized treatment centers. She has served as medical director of both an acute inpatient psychiatric unit and an outpatient clinic, as well as a long-term care practice.
Dr. Cawthorn has extensive experience in other areas such as neuropsychiatric disorders, psychosomatic disorders, primary sleep disorders, refractory severe psychotic disorders, ECT, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, severe illness in the San Antonio State Hospital system, acute traumatic brain disorder, acute spinal cord injuries, and treatment of complex psychiatric conditions. Dr. Cawthorn offers telehealth services to residents of long-term care facilities, routine home outpatient care, and detention center inmates who require mental health service
Mrs. Angela Ellis is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner born and raised in San Antonio, TX. Angela completed her undergraduate education at The University of Texas at Arlington and earned her master’s degree in nursing at Western Governors University. After over 20 years of nursing experience in telemetry, special procedures, and social work Angela returned to school during the COVID pandemic. She obtained her PMHNP degree from The University of Cincinnati in 2023.
As a Psychiatric Practitioner, Angela strives to collaborate with her patients, offering support in a safe space to help achieve mental health, wholeness, and well-being.
Angela enjoys family gatherings and spending time with her fur baby.
Ms.Betty Obuya is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing patient-centered, compassionate mental health care. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University.
Throughout her nursing career, Betty has gained experience across multiple specialties, including medical-surgical care, hospice, and pediatric home health, allowing her to support patients across the lifespan with empathy and clinical insight. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Betty takes a holistic and collaborative approach to treatment. She is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.
Outside of work, Betty enjoys traveling, immersing herself in different cultures, spending time in nature, and exploring new creative outlets.
Mr. Martin Perez, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, was raised in Laredo, Texas, where he began his nursing education. He later relocated to San Antonio, where he discovered his passion for psychiatric mental health. Mr. Perez earned his Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and brings over twelve years of diverse nursing experience, including inpatient psychiatric care, pediatric care, and acute trauma settings. His broad clinical background allows him to provide thoughtful, well-rounded psychiatric care to a diverse population.
As a bilingual provider fluent in English and Spanish, Mr. Perez is dedicated to improving access to mental health services and fostering clear, culturally responsive communication. Mr. Perez is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care and supporting patients in achieving long-term stability, resilience, and an improved quality of life.
Ms. Melinda Zamora, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC was born and raised in San Antonio. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and holds board certification as a Psychiatric – Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. After attending San Antonio’s Health Careers High School and Wayland Baptist University in New Braunfels as an undergrad student, Ms. Zamora attended Walden University where she graduated Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She excelled in nursing school and completed her residency at The San Antonio State Hospital and with the Bexar County Justice program, both inpatient and outpatient clinics for clients with mental health and various psychiatric conditions. Ms. Zamora brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Psychiatry of San Antonio. She is passionate about helping others and delivering exceptional care.
Ms. Zamora is a member of the prestigious American Psychiatric Nurses Association. Ms. Zamora’s other professional memberships include the Texas Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Association.
Mrs. Samantha Martinez is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She recently earned her Master of Science in Nursing and brings 10 years of experience as an Emergency Room nurse to her practice. Her time in the ER strengthened her clinical skills, compassion, and ability to provide calm, focused care in high-pressure situations.
She is passionate about mental health advocacy, reducing stigma, and delivering empathetic, patient-centered care. Her goal is to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their treatment journey.
In her free time, Mrs. Samantha enjoys baking, traveling with her family, and spending quality time with her husband and three children.
